Social Sciences Computing Facility
@ University of California, San Diego
Instructional continuity resources (including Canvas and Zoom resources and fixes to common problems with Zoom) are available from our instructional continuity page and from the campus Keep Teaching pages.
The Social Sciences Computing Facility (SSCF) is a consolidated group that offers a shared computing infrastructure and standard policies to all the departments in the School of Social Sciences and parts of the School of Arts & Humanities. SSCF consists of two units that work in close collaboration.
* The Systems Group has several higher-level IT staff who jointly manage the physical and virtual server infrastructure for the school, maintain and develop the critical IT services offered to all departments, and provide advanced support for complex academic and administrative projects.
* The Support Group consists of IT staff who provide on-site hardware and software assistance to all the end users in the school. Their duties are focused on maintaining laptops and desktop workstations for staff and faculty.

SSCF is funded from a combination of sources, including the campus "Divisional Support Model" (DSM), contributions from the departments and research units, and in some cases direct support of our employees on grants and projects. We do not operate a recharge so we are not able to do "by-the-hour" billed services.
