About Us

The Social Sciences Computing Facility (SSCF) is a consolidated group that offers a shared computing infrastructure and standard policies to all the departments in the School of Social Sciences and parts of the School of Arts & Humanities.  SSCF consists of two units that work in close collaboration.

* The Systems Group has several higher-level IT staff who jointly manage the physical and virtual server infrastructure for the school, maintain and develop the critical IT services offered to all departments, and provide advanced support for complex academic and administrative projects.

* The Support Group consists of IT staff who provide on-site hardware and software assistance to all the end users in the school. Their duties are focused on maintaining laptops and desktop workstations for staff and faculty.

WHAT WE DO

A summary of the services we provide is available on our services page.

WHO WE SUPPORT

We are the primary IT support organization for the following departments and research units:

Social Sciences Units:  (use sscfhelp@ucsd.edu for assistance)

Arts & Humanities Units(or use dahhelp@ucsd.edu for assistance)

We also support certain researchers and labs in several units which are affiliated with multiple divisions/schools, including the Global Health Program, the Human Development Program, and the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study.

FUNDING

SSCF is funded from a combination of sources, including the campus "Academic Support Model" (ASM), contributions from the departments and research units, and in some cases direct support of our employees on grants and projects.  We do not operate a recharge so we are not able to do "by-the-hour" billed services.
